more stars than in the heavens

not in our stars, but in ourselves

not in our stars: meet the blogger

Since I’m going to get all personal with all of you, and since this blog can now embrace a broader set of associations with the word “stars,” I thought I’d let you all know what an internet natal chart generator has to say about me.  All text comes from Astrodienst, and specifically from an astrologer named Robert Hand.  I offer no commentary or interpretation; you can simply read and agree or disregard as you wish.  Soon I’ll actually write Something.  Promise.

Sun in Sagittarius

You are a fun-loving person who enjoys games. You are very spirited and energetic and need to spend a lot of time outdoors to release all your energy. Because of your strong need to feel free, you may find it difficult to put up with restrictions that adults want to impose on you.

You want freedom to be friends with anyone, and you won’t let others dictate to you about this.

You are very curious and want to know the answer to every question that comes to mind. As you grow older, you will become interested in finding out how the universe works in the broadest terms.

You are cheerful and positive, and other people will enjoy having you around.

Sun in the Sixth House

You are somewhat shy and you prefer to work quietly on the sidelines. But whatever you do, you want to do very well. You have high standards and want all your work to be as nearly perfect as possible.

You may find it hard to stand up to aggressive people. But unless you learn to do this, they may try to run your life. You need to be more self-confident and less self-critical.

You are very concerned with long-range goals and more disciplined about staying with them than most people your age.

Sun Conjunct Saturn

You are very serious and you will always seem older than you are. Even while you are young, you want to do meaningful work that will continue to be important as you grow older.

However, you are likely to be very hard on yourself, either demanding too much of yourself or feeling that others demand too much. You may hold yourself in so much that it is hard to let go and have a good time. Or you may hold back because you feel that others will not let you be yourself.

As you get older, it may become more difficult to express your emotions to others, and you may begin to feel lonely and cut off from people. As you grow into middle age, you will begin to feel easier about yourself. Then your sense of discipline and your ability to work hard and long will stand you in good stead with others.

Cancer Rising

You are a very sensitive person and very attached to familiar surroundings. When you encounter new people, you are friendly enough, but you won’t talk about your inner feelings until you get to know them quite well. However, once you decide to trust someone, you trust him or her completely.

Where you live while you are young will always be important to you.

If you feel secure in yourself and self-confident, you can be a generous person, always willing to give of yourself.

In those areas in which you lack self-confidence, you have a serious problem. Your sensitivity makes it difficult for you to take criticism or harsh words from anyone, especially those whom you love. When you feel hurt, you withdraw into yourself and avoid others.

Neptune Opposition Ascendant

This aspect can create problems in relationships in that you feel deceived or disappointed by your closest friends. When you are older, you may feel like giving up everything you have to help out someone you love, but be very careful to do this only for someone who is worth it, someone who is trying to improve his or her own life.

There is another way that you may experience this aspect. Instead of looking for people whom you can help, you may seek out teachers, people who are wiser, more mature and evolved than you. Very often you idealize an older person and hang on to his or her every word and gesture.

You may be attracted to very creative and sensitive people who see aspects of the world that you do not see. These people can be very rewarding but they may also be confusing at times.

Pluto Trine Ascendant

You are very intense emotionally, and you take life seriously. Your relationships with others are also intense, and you probably prefer to have a few close friends rather than a lot of casual acquaintances.

Eventually you will arrive at a philosophy of life that you will hold quite intensely, and when you decide on your position, it will be very difficult for anyone to make you change your mind. The most intense changes in your life will happen through relationships.

It is very difficult for you to leave matters alone, but you must learn when to leave others’ lives as they are. People resent uninvited interference, and their resentment could get in your way, unless you learn this lesson.

Moon in Aries

You are very high spirited and quite courageous, although other people may not realize this until they have made you angry. You are quite independent, and you do not care if anyone agrees with you.

When your feelings are aroused, you are impulsive and careless. However, when you settle down, you forget your anger very quickly and don’t hold a grudge. As you grow older, you must learn to be more in control of yourself.

Moon in the Eleventh House

You have a strong need for friends who support you in whatever you do and who make you feel better about yourself.

Your moods will have a strong effect on the course of your friendships. But be careful not to act inconsistently toward your friends and make them feel confused about your feelings for them.

The goals you set for your life will be enormously influenced by the attitudes you have learned while you are young. Be careful not to get too set in your beliefs, because that could prevent you from taking advantage of opportunities when you are older.

Moon Opposition Mars

You are likely to be a very competitive person, who sees almost anything that someone else does as a challenge to either outdo that person or work against him or her. It is almost impossible for you to have a neutral, in-between relationship with anyone. You either work against the person you are with, or you cooperate perfectly.

You must learn to recognize what really matters most to you and what is relatively unimportant. Part of you is terribly afraid to be wrong or to make a mistake, but remember that everyone makes mistakes sometimes.

If you can learn to control your aggressiveness, you will be a hard worker and a very energetic person who can accomplish a great deal. Just don’t waste too much time in needless battles.

Moon Trine Neptune

You have a rich imagination, which you need to express in some way. It doesn’t matter whether or not your work is “good.” It only matters that you express your imagination in some concrete form.

Your imagination is so strong it can’t be repressed. One way that you express it is by creating your own private fantasy world.

You are very emotionally sensitive to other people’s feelings, and unfortunately you make their feelings your own. When it comes to taking care of someone, you can be completely selfless. You get total satisfaction just from being of service.

Moon Trine Uranus

You need a great deal of freedom, and you insist on your right to do things in your own way. Probably you will be attracted most strongly to people who are quite unusual. You are not actively rebellious yourself, and others may even think you are quite conventional, but inside you are very much an individual.

Even though you may move often in your life, you will soon feel at home wherever you are.

This aspect gives you the ability to tolerate and respect offbeat people and unusual situations, even when you aren’t personally attracted to them. You will work hard to achieve the sense that you are a unique person, so you are willing to respect other people’s uniqueness.

Venus in Scorpio

Your feelings about people are very intense; you either like them very much or not at all.

Only deep relationships have any meaning for you. You find it somewhat difficult to tell someone that you like him or her, because you are afraid of being rejected. It is hard to put your feelings into words, because they seem so complicated. And it is true that not everyone will understand you and your feelings, but you will just have to accept that.

Venus in the Fifth House

You enjoy amusements and pleasant times, especially if you don’t have to use a lot of physical energy. You like activities in which you can indulge your senses and feel good. As you get older, you will be unusually attracted to potential love partners. If you have artistic ability, this placement can help you express yourself artistically.

Venus Square Jupiter

You are optimistic, and you love company and good times. A warm and sociable person, you like to make the people around you feel good. Others will generally like you and enjoy your friendship.

However, you need more self-discipline, because you often overdo whatever you enjoy. Don’t waste all your time on silly and meaningless activities that build nothing for the future. Your optimism is justified, for you can get whatever you want out of life, but you will have to work for it as much as everyone else does.

In some cases this aspect means that you have some creative talent, and if you are willing to discipline yourself and develop your talent, you can probably earn your living by it.

Mars in Libra

This placement of Mars can have two quite different effects. Probably you prefer to work with another person, for you have a strong sense of cooperation. Your desire to have your own way is modified by your need to get along with others.

But on the other hand, some persons with this placement are very competitive. In that case, you think of every meeting with someone else as a chance to compete, either in a friendly or an unfriendly spirit.

You have a strong sense of fairness and hate to see anyone treated unjustly.

Mars in the Fifth House

You have a great need to express yourself and to be yourself openly. You say whatever is on your mind and let everyone know your mood. For this reason, you have a reputation for honesty, if not tact.

You put a great deal of energy into all your activities, but especially into whatever you do for fun. It is difficult for you to remain cooped up for long, because you get restless unless you are really enjoying your work. Basically you prefer play to work. As an adult, however, you may succeed by choosing a career that is really ‘fun’ for you.

Mars Trine Jupiter

This aspect is usually regarded as lucky. You will be able to do pretty much what you want with your life in any way you want. You can be yourself, do what you want and still win approval, for people recognize your integrity and honesty as well as your generous attitude toward others.

You are able to work with others and get what you want without taking anything away from them. People appreciate this and will want to help you.

This aspect means that you love freedom, and you enjoy moving around in large open areas. You do everything in a big way, and you have very little patience with people who take life only in little pieces.

Mars Sextile Uranus

An extremely independent person, you need to be free to go your own way. You like excitement, so you constantly take up new projects to keep your life from getting dull. On the other hand, you find it hard to settle down into a routine. As a result, you may not do anything very thoroughly, because the most important part of any activity is usually routine plodding work. But you have a knack for getting others started on worthwhile projects.

You are a very high-energy person who hates to sit still. But in order to stay busy, you may seek out activities that are pointless and maybe even disruptive to others. Try to avoid that.
